Song deal done?
Source Dave Sully

"We have a deal in place with Alex Song subject to a medical,"confirmed Sullivan. "If the medical is ok, we'll take him.

"He's injured at the moment, which is something you've got to weigh up. But we've got until September 1st to make a decision."

"He couldn't physically pass a medical tomorrow, but if the medics say it's just a technical thing and he's only a couple of weeks away you'd take that gamble and hope they're right.

"He's still got two years left on his Barcelona contract and you're signing a player on a three-year contract, so it's a huge commitment. He's a big earner, Alex."

One fuck up after another at the moment.

You know they will wait to January and we will be forced to rely on a 16 year old.

Wankers.

Re: Song deal done?
This whole Song thing is a mystery. Jinxed on KUMB reckons he's signed, then he's failed a medical, but surely if you are going to do a medical and he's recovering from surgery on his ankle, then he's bound to fail.

So.......has he failed because of something else?

Re: Song deal done?
So a player who wants to leave the club he's contracted to, is prepared to wait for us and only us to offer him a deal on deadline day based on whether he passes a medical and neither him nor his club will entertain offers from anywhere else?

Meaning if we say no he has to stay there and they are stuck with him.

Is that what we are adamant is happening?

I don't think we can get Poyet back until January at the earliest.

Re: Song deal done?
Perhaps Song has signed and is waiting for a medical on 1st September.... That means he is currently employed by Barcelona so has to go for training there. It is possible the Mirror have made a story out of nothing...

Song is being very good about this isn't he, as is Barcelona.

Curious.

"is to wait until the next transfer window in January - by when Song is expected to be fully fit - to complete the deal"

Just in time for someone else to snap him up

Re: Song deal done?
The injury curse now extends to players we are about to sign, you really couldn't make this shit up.
Normally it wouldn't matter but it's an affordable world class player who actually really wants to sign for us and the deal was agreed.

*Headbuts wall*

Re: Song deal done?
according to kumb

West Ham's bid to sign Alex Song from Barcelona is almost certainly on hold until January as a result of his recent failed medical.

The midfielder had previously agreed personal terms with West Ham, who were set to sign the Cameroon international on a free transfer from the reigning La Liga champions.

However a failed medical last Friday has led the club to reconsider their options, one of which is to wait until the next transfer window in January - by when Song is expected to be fully fit - to complete the deal.

With the 27-year-old still still suffering from a persistent ankle injury, no date has been set for his return to first team football.

And that - combined with the current drastic injury situation at the club - has dissuaded Hammers chiefs from going ahead with the move now and looking instead towards alternative options.

He was at the Hospital Ron but no-one ever confirmed that it was for a full medical.

Re: Song deal done?
Not worth the risk of a 3 year deal for 70k a week.

Apparently he might not be fit till November and even if he was he won't be match fit for quite a while as he has not taken part in any sort of match since May.

I would leave it till January and revisit it then. I someone else wants to take the risk then more fool them.

If Barcelona want him off there books thye could always release him after the window so we could take him in late September or October.

No idea. He's pictured in London having it done apparently. Someone said Gold told them this would happen on Friday too.

Why would he be having a medical today when Bilic reportedly said yesterday that a medical would be after the international break?
